Many deadheads spend their summers going on tour with the Grateful Dead, there’s nothing strange about that. But earning college credit to go on tour and study deadheads on tour, now that’s unusual. In part one of the DTV interview, University of North Carolina Professor Rebecca Adams outlines the sociological techniques students learned in her “Deadhead Subculture” sociology courses to prepare for observing deadheads on the 1989 Grateful Dead Summer Tour.
