DTV episode one features the colorful scene outside the Kaiser Convention Center in Oakland, Ca. during the first Grateful Dead shows of 1988. These shows celebrated Chinese New Year’s, Mardi Gras and St. Patrick’s Day. In a small snapshot of upcoming changes in the Dead scene at shows, local community complaints about deadheads led to changes in vending rules, with differing comments from vendors. Bill Graham Presents and the Band appeal to deadheads to respect the neighborhood. Deadheads comment on where they are from, and why they travel so far, so frequently, to get to another Grateful Dead show. Originally aired Dead Head TV episode 001, April 1988.
